What Is Dry Eye?

Dry eye occurs when your eyes don’t produce enough tears or when your tears evaporate too quickly. This imbalance leads to irritation, inflammation, and visual disturbances that can impact your quality of life.

Common symptoms include:

  • Stinging, burning, or gritty sensation
  • Blurred or fluctuating vision
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Excessive tearing
  • Discomfort while wearing contacts

Our Advanced Approach to Dry Eye Relief

At Dr. Janszyan’s office, we use state-of-the-art technology to pinpoint the cause of your dry eye and develop a customized treatment plan.

Our diagnostic process includes:

  • Tear film analysis to measure tear quality and volume
  • Meibomian gland evaluation to assess oil gland health
  • Ocular surface imaging to identify inflammation or irregularities

Advanced treatment options may include:

  • Thermal eyelid therapy to unblock oil glands
  • Lid hygiene and at-home treatments for maintenance
  • Prescription eye drops or ointments to improve tear film
  • Nutritional support and supplements for tear quality
  • Punctal plugs to conserve tears
  • Scleral lenses for severe or chronic cases

How Scleral Lenses Help with Dry Eye

For patients with persistent dryness or sensitivity to contacts, custom scleral lenses can provide remarkable relief. These specialty lenses vault over the cornea, creating a liquid cushion that keeps the eye continuously hydrated throughout the day.

Benefits of scleral lenses for dry eye:

  • Long-lasting moisture protection
  • Crisp, stable vision
  • Comfort for irregular corneas or post-surgery eyes
  • Reduced redness, irritation, and light sensitivity
